Captain Anshuman Singh, Died in Siachen fire, receives Kirti Chakra
For his valour in times of peace, Captain Anshuman Singh has been bestowed with the Kirti Chakra, the second-highest decoration in India. He sadly perished in a fire in Siachen, an area renowned for its bitterly cold climate. Soldiers must contend with harsh weather and terrain in the extremely difficult Siachen Glacier region.
This award is in recognition of Captain Singh’s bravery and commitment to his duty. The Kirti Chakra is bestowed upon persons who exhibit extraordinary bravery and altruism. The country honours his memory and recognises his sacrifice by giving him this honour. His deeds and dedication to defending the nation are greatly valued and will never be forgotten.
At three in the morning on July 19, a fire broke out in the Indian Army munitions dump, which was housed in a fibreglass hut near the Siachen Glacier. Anshuman Singh hurried to save those trapped in the hut. Before he became stuck in the hut, he rescued the lives of four or five others.
“It was love at first sight.” Reliving their memories, Smriti, the wife of martyred Captain Anshuman Singh, stated as much. Last week, she travelled to New Delhi to accept the Kirti Chakra on his behalf.
Captain Anshuman Singh was awarded the Kirti Chakra by President Droupadi Murmu on Friday. Captain Singh passed away in Siachen in July of last year. Singh’s mother Manju Singh and wife Smriti accepted the honour.

Following the presentation of the second-highest gallantry medal, a video of Captain Singh’s emotional wife discussing their love and how they met went popular on social media.
She recalled how Singh told her, “I would die with the brass on my chest. I would not die an ordinary death.”
In the viral video, shared by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Defence, Smriti also said that the two had met on the first day of their college.
“I don’t want to be dramatic, but it was love at first sight,” she said.
“He was accepted into the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) after a month. He was accepted into a medical institution after we first met at an engineering college. incredibly smart man. From that point on, after only one month of dating, the couple spent eight arduous years apart.”
Additionally, according to Smriti, Singh was posted to Siachen just two months after they were married.
She also remembered the last time the couple had a conversation, stating that on July 18, they had a lengthy discussion regarding their future. Singh died on July 19.
“He’s a hero, so it’s all good. We have some control over our life. “He has sacrificed everything to protect his army family and other families,” she remarked.
