Travel Influencer Aanvi Kamdar Dies After Falling into 300 ft Gorge
The incident happened on July 16 at around 10 a.m., when she and her seven companions were visiting the waterfall, according to the police.
Influencer Aanvi Kamdar, from Mumbai, was killed after plunging into a 300-foot chasm while filming a video close to the Kumbhe waterfall in Mangaon, Maharashtra’s Raigad district.
The incident happened on July 16 at around 10 a.m., when she and her seven companions were visiting the waterfall, according to the police. She took pictures and videos of the area before sneaking into the valley. The Mangaon police officers and rescue personnel arrived at the scene after her companions notified the local authorities.
Somnath Gharge, Superintendent of Police in Raigad, stated, “She died while receiving treatment. After falling into the gorge, she was still alive. She didn’t seem to be there at first, but as we got closer, it was discovered that she was breathing. After being saved, she was taken right away to the hospital.
The 27-year-old was taken to the government hospital in Mangaon, Taluka. It took the Kolad rescue team, the Coast Guard, and employees of the Maharashtra State Electricity Board six hours to lift Ms. Kamdar up because of the difficult rescue efforts caused by the torrential downpour and falling stones.
Ms. Kamdar is an influencer who goes by Theglocaljournal and has more than two lakh Instagram followers. Her Instagram bio states that she started off as a chartered accountant before transitioning into the travel influencer space, creating posts on itineraries, luxury finds, cafes, advice, and general vibes. Her blogs and reels focus on tourism and travel expenses, particularly in India.
